China's largest electric vehicle company (BYD) has made a major investment in Pakistan China's world's largest electric vehicle manufacturer (BYD-Build Your Dreams) has announced an investment with its local partner Mega Conglomerate Pvt Ltd to manufacture modern electric vehicles in Pakistan. BYD to make the most electric vehicles in the world in 2023, surpassing Tesla.
The move comes at a time when Pakistan is taking steps to reduce its carbon footprint and adopt more energy efficient means of transportation for a cleaner air. This initiative will make the green products more accessible to Pakistani consumers as well as take Pakistan's auto industry on the path of growth.
BYD will develop its EV production locally in Pakistan, which will enable Pakistan to export Right Hand Drive (RHD) vehicles. BYD's investment in Pakistan is a major testament to the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) bringing in foreign investment. This investment is increasing the confidence of foreign investors and leading foreign companies are showing interest in investing in Pakistan.
